The origins of Franziskainer date back to 1363, the year in which the master brewer Seidel Vaterstetter was mentioned for the first time, as the owner of the “brewery next to the Franciscans”, in Residenzstrasse in Munich. The name Franziskaner derives from the Franciscan monastery.
